Refund Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-10

The short version

If Dotvault isn’t working for you, I don’t want your money. Email me within 14 days of your purchase and I’ll issue a full refund — no hoops, no interrogation.

Statutory cancellation right vs. goodwill refund

These are two different things, and it’s worth being upfront about the distinction.

Statutory cancellation right. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you’d normally have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content without giving a reason. Because Dotvault is delivered as a download, you consent to immediate supply when you begin downloading — which means you lose that statutory cancellation right once the download starts. This is standard for digital content.

Our goodwill refund. Separately — and regardless of the above — I offer a voluntary 14-day goodwill refund from the date of purchase. This is my own policy, not a legal requirement, and it applies even though the statutory cancellation right has been waived. If you’re not happy, email me and I’ll sort it out.

How it works

Dotvault licences are sold through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. If you’d like a refund, email hello@dotvault.dev with the email address you used to purchase. I’ll process the refund through Lemon Squeezy and you should see the money back in your account within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

What’s covered

  • Any licence purchase made within the last 14 days is eligible for a full goodwill refund.
  • If you accidentally purchased twice, I’ll refund the duplicate regardless of when it happened.
  • If you’re experiencing a bug that makes the app unusable and I can’t fix it in a reasonable timeframe, I’ll refund you even outside the 14-day window.

What’s not covered

Refund requests made more than 14 days after purchase are handled on a case-by-case basis. I’m not going to be difficult about it — but if you’ve been using the app happily for three months and then ask for your money back, that’s a conversation rather than an automatic yes.

Chargebacks

If there’s a problem, please reach out before filing a chargeback with your bank. Chargebacks cost me money and time regardless of the outcome, and I’d much rather just sort it out directly. I’m quick to respond and quick to refund when it’s warranted.
